Woodlawn, is hands down the hottest neighborhood in the city of Chicago for the year of 2017.
Sales have soared due to the future construction of President Barack Obama's Library and Community Center. Along with the construction of the presidential library, Tiger Woods has purchased the rights to renovate the local Jackson Park Golf Club and bring it to a PGA tour level rating. This renovation will make Jackson Park Golf Club the sole PGA tour rated in the entire city of Chicago. This is bringing major investments from not only fortune 500 companies, but also from the city itself in the form of additional home buyer assistance programs exclusive to the community of Woodlawn.
My colleague and I are both members on the Advisory Counsel for Renew Woodlawn. Renew Woodlawn is a home buyer program that provides up to $15,000 in down payment assistance in order to make home-ownership attainable for families that may not have the additional funds that are required to purchase a home outside of being approved for a loan. The $15,000 in down payment assistance is 100% forgivable as long as you live in the property for just 5 years.
There are plenty of other improvements coming to Woodlawn, and I know of all of them due to my passion for neighborhood awarness. I am also the assitant information officer for the community led urban planning community, 1Woodlawn. I believe a Realtor that associates themselves with a community must also get truly involved with that community.
